Out of the ten most successful Serbian scientists, the only ones who live and work in Serbia are the professors of the University of Kragujevac
According to the h-index, that is, the Hirsch index, which is the most relevant indicator of the scientific success of the researchers, among the ten most successful Serbian scientists (eight are only originating from Serbia), who have built a professional career abroad, are two from the University of Kragujevac.
Prof. Dr. Ivan Gutman, professor emeritus of the University of Kragujevac is in the fourth place and prof. Miodrag Stojkovic, MD, Ph.D., full professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Kragujevac, is in the eighth place.

Professor at the Department of Physical Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Kragujevac, a full-time member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, as well as the International Academy of Mathematical Chemistry, the Academy of Non-Linear Sciences (Moscow) and the European Academy (London) and since last year honorary doctor of science at the Óbuda University in Hungary. In 2007, the town of Kragujevac declared him honorary citizen.
